FAQs

  • In general, particularly with IBS, our tolerance to foods will change over time based on a variety of circumstances like sleep, stress, etc. When you are at a low point, you might find that avoiding certain foods might help you feel better. At other times, you might be able to tolerate them better.

  • Changing your diet is really hard. Restricting certain foods, even when you have a good medical reason for it, can make us focus on it more and want that forbidden food even more than ever. This is so common. Don’t feel bad. We have to be gentle and methodical when trying to change our diet. We can work with you to find alternatives and find joy in new areas of eating.

  • Yes! Our mental health can really impact our bodies. If we’re experiencing stress, anxiety, grief, or any other difficult emotions, it will impact our bodies. And for some of us, we really feel it in our gut, so we will definitely have symptoms like pain, bloating, diarrhea or constipation during these times. There is lots of research supporting managing your mental health to ease gut symptoms!

  • YES! Changing hormones during a menstrual cycle and during menopause will greatly impact your gut. Constipation or diarrhea will show up at different times in a menstrual cycle. And a slower gut, or constipation, is often a symptom of peri-menopause.

You don’t have to keep guessing what foods will make you sick or live in fear of your next meal.
