Attempting to control the body to fit within binary gender norms can fuel disordered eating patterns. People in the trans and gender-expansive community suffer much higher rates of disordered eating than those that are cis-gender due gender dysphoria and its impact on possible body dysmorphia. This internal struggle is exacerbated by the high levels of discrimination that they face.
