Pre- and Post-Natal Nutrition

Are you trying to conceive (TTC)?

Do you think you need to lose weight before you get pregnant?

Are you worried about your fertility?

Do you want to support a healthy pregnancy?

Are you confused by the conflicting nutritional advice for women?

Our Approach

We focus on maximizing your health and your fertility. We don’t set intentional weight loss as a goal because we know that dietary restriction can result in nutritional deficiencies or weight cycling. Both of these will negatively impact your health and your fertility.

Treatment

Whether you’re planning to conceive, pregnant, or postpartum, we’ll support you in:

  • Optimizing your nutrition during your TTC phase to enhance your fertility.

  • Teaching you how to meet your changing nutritional needs, with ease.

  • Helping you manage nausea, food aversions, or appetite changes.

  • Supporting you in juggling your nutritional needs and those of your baby, after birth.

Take of yourself and your baby.

FAQs

  • Anorexia and bulimia are complex mental health conditions that impact your body, emotions, and daily life. Eating disorders are not about “just food.”

    • Anorexia Nervosa often involves intense fears around food, weight, and body image. Restriction, over-exercise, or rigid routines may feel like coping strategies, but they can take a toll on your health and relationships.

    • Bulimia Nervosa often involves cycles of binge eating followed by purging (vomiting, laxatives, excessive exercise). Feelings of guilt, shame, and being “stuck” in the cycle are common—but healing is possible.

You don’t need a formal diagnosis to seek support. If food, eating, or body image feels overwhelming or is interfering with your life, we are here for you.

  • Absolutely, yes! Disordered eating is a spectrum and we are happy to support you to feel better. You do not have to meet some threshold of sickness to get help. It doesn’t matter if your eating is “bad enough”, if you’re unhappy or stressed about it, I can help.

  • We get it. We do not pressure or push you past your limits. Our goal is to create a safe place where you can talk about your issues and create a plan, based on your goals, and at your pace, to help. Everything we do is completely flexible. If something isn’t working, we will adjust.

  • Eating disorders are complex problems that require expert advice and well-rounded support. We are happy to work in collaboration with your other medical professionals. We are able to support both the physical and mental health issues that make eating disorders such a challenge for you and those who are working to support you.

  • Eating disorders are complicated issues that need specific education and experience to properly treat. We often find that our clients have a history with other well-meaning medical professionals that don’t understand the issues in-depth. That can breed a feeling of hopelessness. Jessica has 20 years of experience in this field. She is both a credentialed dietician and a clinical counsellor. She is uniquely well suited to blend these two most important aspects of treatment together in your sessions. We are confident that we can help you get better.

  • No! (not really). A lot of our clients have been harmed by structured meal plans. So this is not supportive of their healing. However, some clients might have ADHD or they are overwhelmed by conflicting nutritional guidance. In cases like these, we are happy to provide support for meal planning. Generally speaking, we are trying to move clients away from rigid control of their diet.
